What is Hardscape?

It generally means any “hard” site pavements as opposed to “soft” landscaped surfaces. It refers to the paved areas like driveways, sidewalks & patios where the upper-soil-profile is no longer exposed to the actual surface of the Earth.

Concrete Stain

Is there anything less attractive than a monolithic slab of gray concrete? How about a scuffed, marred monolithic slab of gray concrete? In either case, you can give new life to your bland concrete slab with a technique called “stained concrete.”  Stained concrete imbues your concrete with a huge variety of colors.

Masonry


Masonry refers to the building or addition to a structure using brick, stone such as marble, granite, travertine, limestone; concrete block, glass block, stucco, and tile. Masonry is generally a highly durable form of construction.

The most common forms of Masonry for Residential are Block Walls, Retaining Walls, Garden Walls, and Veneer.

Veneer

A Veneer wall that consists of masonry units, usually clay-based bricks, installed on one or both sides of a structurally independent wall usually constructed of wood or masonry. In this context the brick masonry is primarily decorative, not structural. The brick veneer is generally connected to the structural wall by brick ties (metal strips that are attached to the structural wall, as well as the mortar joints of the brick veneer). There is typically an air gap between the brick veneer and the structural wall. As clay-based brick is usually not completely waterproof, the structural wall will often have a water-resistant surface (usually tar paper) and weep holes can be left at the base of the brick veneer to drain moisture that accumulates inside the air gap. Concrete blocks, real and cultured stones, and veneer adobe are sometimes used in a very similar veneer fashion.
